National Brain Tumor Society has awarded KiraGen Bio a research grant to evaluate its engineered CAR-T cells in glioblastoma models established from patient tumors and grown in the brains of laboratory animals.
The study will examine whether coordinated gene edits can help the cells maintain tumor control in the brain. KiraGen’s approach starts with healthy-donor T cells and combines protections against several signals that suppress immune-cell activity.
This work will inform the preclinical development of KGEN-001. The program is not in clinical trials and is not available to patients today.
